Sequence

The Center offers three entry points to the study of Tai Chi Chuan:

  1. Students may choose to start with either Tai Chi Basics, Section A,  a course which teaches a very short 16 posture pattern derived from the Standard Pattern; Tai Chi Basics, Section B, a course which introduces students to the movements of the Yang Family Style form, or Tai Chi for Health;
  2. Students may start with the Standard pattern (24 postures), the beginning pattern taught throughout China; or
  3. Students who wish to concentrate on the Traditional Yang Family Tai Chi may start with that class in the Fall.

All courses are repeatable.

Students who have previously studied Tai Chi Chuan should choose the course appropriate for them.

Occasionally the Center has sufficient interest to offer the Standard 42 competition pattern. Students should have completed the Standard Pattern (24 postures) course as preparation for this course.
